How do I open my LNB checking account?

You can open an LNB account online or by visiting one of our many banking locations or call an LNB Personal Banker at 806-792-1000.

Is direct deposit required with your checking accounts?

No, it is not a requirement, but direct deposit is a time saver and very convenient. Ask any of our personal bankers for details to help get your account set up for direct deposit.

How does Check21 affect my personal accounts?

Any check written or deposited may be "truncated" during the check collection and returns process. A substitute check can be created for clearing. If you request a copy of your check in your monthly statements, it is very likely that some of the checks received will be substitute checks. We treat substitute checks the same as any other check.

What information do I need to open an account online with LNB?

To open an account, each signer must have 1) a valid U.S. driver's license and 2) a valid U.S. Social Security number and you must be at least 18 years of age. You will be required to provide this information, along with a U.S. mailing address. If you are not a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Resident Alien and do not have this information, you will not be able to open an account online.

Why do you need my Social Security Number?

We ask for your Social Security number to help verify your identity and, if the account is interest bearing, because we must report interest earned on the account to the IRS using your Social Security Number.

Is this online application secure?

LNB uses encryption for online security. Encryption technology helps provided secure transmission data using a mathematical formula to scramble the data. Without a corresponding 'decoder', the transmission would look like nonsense text and would be unusable. We maintain strict security standards and procedures to prevent unauthorized access to your information, including 128-bit encryption.

What accounts can I open online?

You will be able to open personal checking accounts online. If you would like to open other account types, please stop by your nearest LNB branch.

How many accounts can I open online at one time?

You have the ability to open 3 accounts during the application process. Each account will require a separate minimum deposit.

How can I make my opening deposit?

You can choose to make your opening deposit in one of three ways: Transfer funds from another account you have in your name via ACH, fund by credit or debit card, or transfer funds from an existing account at LNB.

What can I expect after my account is opened online?

After you have completed the application, a confirmation e-mail will be sent to the email address you provided during the application process. You will also need to print, sign and return your signature card and internet banking enrollment form to LNB.

What is an Annual Percentage Yield (APY)?

The APY or Annual Percentage Yield is the rate of return on an interest-bearing account for a one-year period based on the interest rate and frequency of compounding. The interest rates and APYs for accounts that can be opened with LNB online are variable and may change at any time at our discretion without prior notice, before or after an account is opened.

How do I keep my Card PIN (Personal Identification Number) Secure?

For your security, avoid using birthdays, phone numbers, your social security number or other things that people may be able to guess for your PIN. In addition, do not write your PIN on your card and do not share it with anyone. Please memorize your PIN or store it in a location away from your card.

What is the difference between Individual and Joint ownership?

Individual : The individual applicant owns the account.
Joint: The joint applicants each have ownership of the account.
The bank may pay any sum to either owner at any time.

What is Overdraft Protection?

Overdraft Protection is a service for occasional use, under circumstances where a mistake has caused an overdraft on your account. The bank will pay certain items up to your assigned overdraft limit, and a Non-Sufficient Funds fee will be assessed for each item. Overdrafts must be paid within 10 business days of the initial overdraft, or your Overdraft Protection privilege may be revoked and/or your account may be closed.

Can I open an account online if I'm not a U.S. Citizen?

You can only apply online if you are a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Resident Alien with a valid U.S. Social Security Number or Taxpayer Identification Number.

Why do you ask for my email address?

We ask for your email address to send you a confirmation notice when the application process is completed, and to facilitate challenge deposit verification, if applicable. Your email address will also be used to provide notification that your monthly eStatement is available.

What is Adobe Reader and why do I need it?

Adobe® Acrobat® Reader™ is free software used for viewing and printing PDF files. You will need this software installed on your computer in order for your computer to download, display or print the account disclosures.

What is a PIN used for?

Your PIN is your 'Personal Identification Number' that will be used to do ATM transactions with your new LNB card.

How will I know when my opening deposit is made?

If you fund your opening deposit with a transfer of funds from another bank account via ACH, your opening deposit will typically be available within 2 business days of verification of your 'Challenge Deposits'. If you fund your account via credit or debit card, or transfer from an existing LNB account, your opening deposit should be available within 24 hours of your application being approved. Funds from any deposit will become available for your use according to the Funds Availability Disclosure provided at account opening.

Why does LNB need a signature card?

LNB will keep this on file, as a record of your written signature.

What is FDIC Insurance?
